On Friday 23rd February, I travelled to the ICC in Birmingham with my husband for #SBSEvent2024. Theo Paphitis hosted his annual event for his #SBS Small Business Sunday winners. It was a day that saw the best and brightest of UK small business, come together for a day of inspiration, learning and motivation.
We were amongst 1200 small businesses who attended this year. The day consisted of some fantastic sessions and workshops from #SBS winners and industry experts. This including a Google mainstage session on incorporating AI into business, a NatWest panel Chaired by Debbie Lewis, with Absolute Collagen Founder Maxine Laceby, Spice Kitchen Founder Sanjay Aggarwal and Naturally Tiwa Skincare Co-Founder Shalom Lloyd as panellists, as well as an inspirational session from #SBS winner The British Craft House owner Susan Bonnar on crossing the £1m + turnover threshold.
Fireside chat with Stacey Solomon
The highlight of the event was listening to the fireside chat between Theo Paphitis and Stacey Solomon. I have followed Stacey since her days on X-Factor and now she is a TV Icon, with the award winning show ‘Sort Your Life Out’ and a successful Small Business Investor. The chat was hugely personable and motivational on all things small business, building personal brands and an insight into why she stepped into the world of small business. After the session, Stacey took some questions from the audience and we had the opportunity to gift her some of our products. You can read about the Family Tree slice I made for her and her family, in my next blog post. It was absolutely a pinch me moment, made even more incredible after she started following me on Instagram later that night!
How to enter #SBS
I would recommend any small business in the UK to have a go at winning #SBS. You can enter every Sunday between 5-7.30 pm on Twitter or Instagram by tweeting/posting @theopaphitis using the hashtag #SBS or commenting under his #SBS is open Instagram post and using the hashtag #SBS. Theo Paphitis retweets/reposts 6 small businesses a week to the growing network, now with over 4,000 #SBS winners in the network.
